Mark Zuckerberg, the person who made Facebook, said on Facebook that a new thing is happening on WhatsApp. Now, when you have a video call on WhatsApp, you can show your screen to the other person. This was first tried out by some people who test new things in WhatsApp, and now everyone can use this screen sharing.
The screen sharing feature in WhatsApp works like the tool you find in platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom.
Screen sharing is generally used to share content for meetings between two people and allow the other person to view the presentation and videos or photos.
It’s good to remember that this new thing is coming to people bit by bit, not all at once. This change is happening on Android phones, iPhones, and Windows devices. So, if the steps I’m about to tell you don’t work on your phone, it means this new thing hasn’t reached your phone yet.
But if this new thing is on your phone, here’s how you use it:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Start a video call with someone.
- At the bottom of your screen, tap a little icon that looks like a phone with an arrow on it. This is for sharing your screen on WhatsApp.
- Say “yes” when it asks if you want to show your screen.
- If you want to stop showing your screen, tap “Stop Sharing.”
- After you start sharing your screen, you can slide your finger up from the bottom of your phone to go back to your phone’s main screen and open another app. When you want to go back to your video call, just open WhatsApp again. You can do this from the main screen, where you find your apps, or from the notification that shows up when you’re on a call.
Right now, we can’t try this ourselves because it’s not on our phones yet. So we don’t know how many people can see your screen at the same time. But in a picture shared by Mark Zuckerberg, the person who runs the company, you can see more than two people on the call. This means it might work for group calls too.
