Saudi Arabia has revealed to build the World’s Longest River, longer than the Nile. The World’s longest river will be 12,000 kilometers in length, 11 meters in width, and four meters in depth would run from the northwest of the country to the Empty Quarter in the southeast. The world’s largest potable water project is part of the Kingdom’s efforts. It will promote tourism and generate revenue from non-oil sources.
Al Shugairi stated: “After a few years, the length of the water pipes will transport this fresh water from one place to another,” indicating that this project be twice the size of the Nile, which is over 6,000 kilometers long.
Green Saudi Initiative:
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during a press conference in March 2021 announced the project, “Green Saudi Initiative,”. According to Ahmad Al Shugairi, The initiative aims to increase the country’s green cover by planting 10 billion trees over the next decade. It will reduce carbon emissions by 60%.
Wider Saudi Vision: World’s longest river
The Ministry of National Guard, the Saudi Geological Survey, and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology will support the Green Saudi Initiative world’s largest water project. It is part of the wider Saudi Vision 2030. A plan to diversify the country’s economy and reduce its dependence on oil.
