On Sunday, ISRO announced that the first important move for India’s first solar mission, ISRO’s Aditya L1, launched successfully after ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 moon mission. They said the satellite is doing well and working as expected. They plan the next step for September 5, 2023, at around 03:00 Hrs.
ISRO’s Aditya L1 launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on Saturday, September 2, 2023,. It’s a big step for India‘s first solar mission after the successful launch of ISRO’s Chandrayaan 3 moon mission. A trusted PSLV rocket will take the Aditya L1 mission on a 125-day journey to the Sun.
The Aditya L1 spacecraft will stay near Earth for sixteen days. After four months of travel, they will place it in a special orbit around the Sun known as the L1 point, which is about 1.5 million km from the Earth. It’s a space-based observatory to study the Sun, weighing about 1,4807.7 kg.
India’s first observatory-class space-based solar mission, The U.R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Bengaluru constructed Aditya-L1. They later transferred it to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on August 14, 2023.
The objectives of the mission are to study the real-time effects of the Sun on space weather.
