GILGIT – Skardu On August 14, Independence Day the initial international flight from Dubai is scheduled to arrive at Skardu Airport. The government wants to encourage more people to visit and do business in the area, so they’re making this happen.
This fantastic progress brings a new time of growth and makes chances for interesting international connections possible in the area.
The airport in Skardu is the only big one in northern Pakistan where larger airplanes can land. The runways at Gilgit and Chitral airports are too short for big planes to land there for long flights.

Former prime minister Imran Khan made Skardu airport “international” in December 2021. But international flights couldn’t happen because there wasn’t a good place for planes to get fuel. But now, this problem has been solved with the help of Khakan Murtaza. Who works for the Civil Aviation Authority, and Mr. Syed Muhammad Taha, who is in charge of Pakistan State Oil. They worked together with the government to fix this issue. The place where airplanes can refuel the facility is expected to be inaugurated on Aug 11 and Skardu Airport will be ready for the first international flight from Dubai on Independence Day.
Dubai to Skardu’s first international flight Schedule:
The airline said the first flight will take off on Independence Day, August 14th, 2023 whereas the weekly flight starts on Aug 19.
